Do you remember hula hooping as a kid?
Fortunately, I don’t. I’ll tell you why I say “fortunately” in a moment, but first let me clarify -- I never could hula hoop when I was a little girl. I just didn’t get the concept. I’d watch my friends whirl and twirl with ease, and impatiently suggest that we all go ride bikes (or jump rope or anything else) instead. Today, I am so thankful that I was that girl.
People often insist that they “can’t” hula hoop because they couldn‘t do it when they were a child, and I can be completely honest when I assure people that I couldn’t do it as a kid, either. (See Frequently Uttered Excuses).
